World heritage Mahabodhi temple in Gaya to be made waste and plastic-free zone


The world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara will be made 'a waste-free and plastic-free zone'. An initiative has been taken with this regard under which tonnes of flower waste is being upcycled into charcoal-free incense sticks.


Recently, the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) has been selected for star municipal leadership award for this zero-waste policy. An environmental organization, which aims to encourage all with the initiatives to help earth's green canopy, end plastic pollution, rejuvenate natural wealth and switch to green energy and more will be presenting the award to BTMC.
