The world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara will be made a waste-free and plastic-free zone. An initiative has been taken to this end, under which tonnes of flower waste are being upcycled into charcoal-free incense sticks.
The Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) has recently been selected for the Star Municipal Leadership award for this zero-waste policy. An environmental organization that aims to encourage all with the initiatives to help the earth's green canopy end plastic pollution, rejuvenate natural wealth, switch to green energy, and more will be presenting the award to BTMC.
