TIRUMALA, MAY 11, 2023: Buoyed by the success of ‘Sundara Tirumala-Suddha Tirumala’ (Clean and Beautiful Tirumala), the mass cleaning mission with the voluntary participation of TTD employees that commenced on April 30, the TTD has embarked upon an ambitious programme of ensuring a plastic-free Tirumala.
Accordingly, the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) has decided to conduct a mass cleaning programme on May 13 for both the Tirumala Ghat Roads and footpath routes. In Addition to the TTD workforce, the district administration will also participate in the “Plastic-free” programme.
At a Thursday review meeting held at Sri Padmavathi Rest House in Tirupathi, TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy said, ‘The motto is to make Tirumala plastic-free.’ Former Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana is also participating in the event, along with District Collector Venkatramana Reddy, SP Parameshwar Reddy, AP Swachandra Corporation Advisor Dr Jayaprakash Sai, and others, he added.
Earlier, SE 2 Sri Jagadeeshwar Reddy explained the detailed plan of action to the EO using a PowerPoint Presentation. He enlisted the Incharge officers at various places in Up Ghat, Down Ghat roads, Alipiri, and Srivarimettu footpath routes, along with the details of supporting staff, Srivari sevaks, etc.
The EO called upon all the officials to participate in the mission with dedication and set an example for others in this programme to make Tirumala a plastic-free zone. “The devotees should also get enlightened about the importance of making Tirumala an environment-friendly zone and completely avoid bringing plastic bottles and non-degradable plastics to Tirumala with this mega cleaning programme”, he asserted.
JEOs Sada Bhargavi and Veerabrahmam, CEO SVBC Shanmukh Kumar, DLO Veeraju, FACAO Balaji, HO Dr Sridevi, and other deputation officials were also present.
