Chandigarh: Punjab local government minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar on Sunday said efforts were being made to celebrate the Hola Mohalla Mahotsav at Anandpur Sahib in Ropar district from March 6-8 as a single-use plastic-free and zero waste to landfill event.
The minister said about 40 lakh people were expected to attend the Hola Mohalla and more than 350 langars (community kitchens) were being installed.
He said the local government department was continuously striving to provide basic facilities like a clean and pollution-free environment to the people of the state. “The aim of the state government is to make the state free from single-use plastic, proper waste management and achieve the goal of zero waste to landfill,” said Inderbir Singh.
