Chandigarh: Punjab local government minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar on Sunday said efforts were being made to celebrate the Hola Mohalla Mahotsav at Anandpur Sahib in Ropar district from March 6-8 as a single-use plastic-free and zero waste to landfill event.
The minister said about 40 lakh people were expected to attend the Hola Mohalla, and more than 350 langars (community kitchens) were being installed.
He said the local government department continuously strives to provide basic facilities like a clean and pollution-free environment to the state's people. “The state government aims to make the state free from single-use plastic, proper waste management, and achieve the goal of zero waste going to landfills,” said Inderbir Singh.
